UN 등록 NGO인 ㈔세계여성평화그룹(IWPG, 대표 윤현숙)이 ‘국제 여성의 날’인 8일(현지시간)을 전후로 미국 뉴욕 UN 본부에서 열린 제68차 UN 여성지위위원회(CSW: Commission on the Status of Women)에 참석하고 NGO 이벤트 및 코트디부아르와 사이드 이벤트를 연다.

CSW는 유엔 경제사회이사회(ECOSOC) 산하의 기능위원회로 매년 세계 각국 정부와 관련 국제기구·비정부기구들이 모여 여성 역량 강화 및 권익 증진을 위한 정책 사례를 공유하고 효과적인 양성평등 정책 이행 방안을 모색하고 있다. 이번 68차 회의는 ‘성 인지적 관점을 고려한 빈곤 해소, 기관 강화와 재정 지원을 통한 모든 여성 및 소녀들의 성평등과 역량 강화 가속화’를 주제로 진행된다.

IWPG는 오는 18일 오전 10시 30분 유엔처치센터(CCUN)에서 ‘글로벌 여성의 연대: 평화를 통해 성 불평등을 완화하다’라는 주제로 IWPG가 단독 포럼을 개최한다. 이 포럼에서 IWPG는 평화와 성평등의 관계를 함께 고찰하고 어떻게 여성들의 연대가 이를 실현하는 데에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있는지에 관해 논의한다.

구체적인 의제는 ▲지속 가능한 평화와 빈곤, 성평등 간의 연계성 ▲여성의 평화 프로세스 참여 증진 ▲다양한 문화와 배경을 가진 여성들의 연대가 갖는 영향력 ▲교육을 통한 평화 달성과 성 불평등 완화 네 가지다.

발제자로는 박희영 IWPG 글로벌 3국 국제협력부장, 이루나 나이크 인도개발재단(IDF) CEO, 닌쉐진라잉 성평등네트워크 정책추진본부장, 잉카 오옐로오 인권 변호사(VOW 이사), 최고은 글로벌 7국 국제협력부장, 페미 오리안 IWPG 파리 지부장이 나선다.

20일 오후 1시 30분에는 주유엔코트디부아르대사관, 코트디부아르 연대, 여성, 가족 및 사회개발부와 AU 콘퍼런스룸에서 사이드 이벤트를 연다.

IWPG는 ‘평화’와 ‘전 세계 여성의 연대’를 성평등을 이루기 위한 필수 요소로 보고, 지속 가능한 평화와 안보의 실현, 여성의 평화 프로세스 참여 확대를 위해 노력할 계획이다. 또한 전쟁과 분쟁을 종식하고 평화 문화를 전파하기 위해 지속 가능한 평화의 필요성에 공감하는 국가, 단체와 협력 관계를 맺어 온 바 있다.

The ㈔ World Women's Peace Group (IWPG, representative Yoon Hyun-sook), a UN-registered NGO, will attend the 68th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held at the UN headquarters in New York on the 8th (local time), the International Women's Day, and hold NGO events and side events with Ivory Coast.

CSW is a functional committee under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and governments and related international organizations and non-governmental organizations gather every year to share policy cases to strengthen women's capabilities and promote rights and seek effective ways to implement gender equality policies. The 68th meeting will be held under the theme of "eliminating poverty in consideration of gender cognitive perspectives, accelerating gender equality and capacity building of all women and girls through institutional reinforcement and financial support."

The IWPG will hold an exclusive forum under the theme of "Global Women's Solidarity: Mitigating Gender Inequality through Peace" at 10:30 a.m. on the 18th at the United Nations Treatment Center (CCUN). In this forum, the IWPG will examine the relationship between peace and gender equality together and discuss how women's solidarity can play an important role in realizing it.

The specific agenda is ▲ the link between sustainable peace, poverty, and gender equality ▲ promoting women's participation in the peace process ▲ the influence of solidarity among women from various cultures and backgrounds ▲ achieving peace through education and alleviating gender inequality.

The presenters will include Park Hee-young, head of the International Cooperation Department of the IWPG Global Trilateral, Iruna Naik, CEO of the Indian Development Foundation (IDF), Nin Xue Jin-Ling, head of the gender equality network policy promotion department, Inca Oyelo, a human rights lawyer (VOW director), and the best is the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Seven Global Countries and Femi Orian, head of the IWPG Paris branch.

At 1:30 p.m. on the 20th, a side event will be held in the AU conference room with the Embassy of the United Nations Ivory Coast, the Ivory Coast Solidarity, the Ministry of Women, Family and Social Development.

The IWPG sees "peace" and "solidarity of women around the world" as essential elements for achieving gender equality, and plans to make efforts to realize sustainable peace and security and expand women's participation in the peace process. It has also formed cooperative relationships with countries and organizations that agree on the need for sustainable peace to end wars and conflicts and spread a peace culture.
